Houston – Carlos Lee hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to lift Houston to victory over Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Brad Lidge pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save in eight chances. The win gave the struggling Astros their second straight series victory.

Mets 6, Pirates 3

New York – Tom Glavine pitched six innings to earn career win No. 299, and Paul Lo Duca drove in four runs to lead New York. Marlon Anderson had a sacrifice fly for New York, which has won five of six.

Reds 7, Brewers 3

Cincinnati – Jeff Keppinger’s bases-loaded double highlighted Cincinnati’s two-out scoring spree. Jeff Suppan (8-9), Milwaukee’s big offseason signing, gave up five runs – all with two outs – and 10 hits in five innings. Suppan has pitched five or fewer innings in six of his last eight starts.

Cubs 7, Cardinals 1

St. Louis – Ted Lilly won his seventh straight decision, and Cliff Floyd and Mike Fontenot both drove in two runs for Chicago. Alfonso Soriano lacked only a home run for the cycle for the Cubs, who have won nine of 12 and pulled within two games of NL Central-leading Milwaukee.

Rockies 10, Padres 2

Denver – Matt Holliday tied a career-high with four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and Aaron Cook pitched a complete game to lead Colorado.

Phillies 7, Nationals 5, (14)

Philadelphia – Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 14th inning for Philadelphia. Jimmy Rollins hit a triple and scored on a throwing error by left fielder Ryan Church in the ninth inning.

Diamondbacks 7, Marlins 0

Phoenix – Brandon Webb threw seven shutout innings for his first win in nearly a month as Arizona won its fifth straight. Chris Young homered, and Scott Hairston was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Diamondbacks.

Giants 2, Braves 1

San Francisco – Rich Aurilia hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning, Noah Lowry held Atlanta scoreless after allowing a run in the first, and San Francisco got a rare win with Barry Bonds out of the lineup.

With Bonds resting after playing 13 innings Tuesday night, the Giants stopped their three-game losing streak behind the strong pitching from Lowry (11-7), who allowed one run and seven hits in eight innings.
