Tigers’ Thames sidelined by hamstring injury

? Detroit Tigers left fielder Marcus Thames was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, a day after he pulled his left hamstring during a diving catch in a 3-2 win over Minnesota.

Outfielder Timo Perez’s contract was purchased from Triple-A Toledo, and he was in the lineup batting seventh and playing left field against the Twins. Perez arrived at the Metrodome shortly before the first pitch. He went 1-for-4 and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning of Detroit’s 4-3 victory.
