Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police are investigating a robbery in which a passenger allegedly stole money from a taxi cab driver.

At 5:25 a.m. Thursday, a 31-year-old Lawrence man told police he was driving a cab and picked up a 34-year-old Lawrence man in the 400 block of North Street.

The victim alleges the suspect told him to drive to an address in the 1300 block of East 25th Terrace, but changed the destination during the trip to the 1600 block of East 24th Street.

At that time, the driver alleged the suspect exited the vehicle, paid for the ride and while he was making change, grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

Police caught up with the suspect and detained him for questioning and also searched the residence where the suspect was located, but nothing was seized. No arrests have been made.

¢ A 36-year-old Lawrence man reported damage to three oak trees and one pine totaling $2,000 worth of damage on Wednesday between 1 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of Stewart Avenue.
