Autopsy complete in death at Yello Sub

Police continue to investigate the death of a 34-year-old Lawrence man whose body was discovered early Monday at a sandwich shop near the Kansas University campus.

Autopsy results for Justin Emmons are complete, according to the Douglas County Coroner’s Office. But a report about the autopsy has not been released, said Kim Murphree, Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman.

Emmons’ body was discovered about 6 a.m. Monday at Yello Sub, 624 W. 12th St., the site of a party Sunday night.

The party, which the business owners say wasn’t authorized, marked the end of the Yello Sub at that site, which is slated for a hotel and commercial project.

“It looks like it was just a terrible, terrible accident,” said Joseph Emmons, Justin’s father. “We may never really know exactly what happened.”

CORRECTION: An earlier version misstated the name of Justin Emmons’ father. It is Joseph Emmons.
