Raiders take two at meet

? Lawrence’s Raiders bounced back from two losses at the MidAmerica Nazarene Tournament on Saturday, defeating Oklahoma’s Spivey All-Stars, 9-2, and Kansas City Milhouse, 15-0.

Joe Kornbrust was the winning pitcher in the first game and Drew Hulse the second.

Kyle Cross went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI against Spivey, while Patrick Johnson and Hunter Scheib homered.

In the rout of Milhouse, Cross was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Travis Sanders was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

“Our effort was tremendous,” coach Shaun Edmondson said. “It was neat because we have a 17-man roster. Everybody got to play and contribute. It was fun to be around everybody today. Our effort was good. At the end of the day, you get two wins after the guys played extremely hard and you feel good about it. A lot of guys contributed.”

The Raiders (20-14) will play host to K.C. Barnstormers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Free State.
