From the Lawrence Daily World for July 12, 1907: “The state board of education has granted certificates to most of those who want to be teachers and the recent Kansas University graduates seeking certificates did not see one of their group turned down. : Ottawa has failed to raise money to set up a YMCA operation like the one here. Equipment of the current operation will be sold and as of now, there will be no more ‘Y’ in Ottawa, which once had high hopes for a new building in which to operate.”
