Hilton’s MySpace page tells fans don’t drink and drive

Los Angeles – Paris Hilton is back from vacation and has a message for her fans: Don’t drink and drive.

“Happy 4th of July everyone, and remember to be responsible and have a designated driver!” the heiress writes in a blog entry on her MySpace Web page Tuesday.

Hilton, 26, was released from jail last week after spending about 23 days behind bars for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. The notorious party girl has since touted a new beginning – one that she says won’t include going out as much.

“The past month has inspired me to move forward with some exciting new projects, so I will keep you all posted,” she writes.

After getting out of jail, Hilton did a series of interviews, including one on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” then skipped town for some rest and relaxation in Maui.

Michael Jackson scouts Maryland shore for home

Washington – Michael Jackson has been hunting for real estate on Maryland’s Eastern Shore as he searches for a vacation home, a publicist for the pop star said.

The self-proclaimed King of Pop visited the rural peninsula last week “for about 24 hours,” but has not made a purchase, Raymone Bain told The Washington Post.

Jackson, 48, is not limiting his search to the Chesapeake region. He has since “gone up the coast” to look elsewhere for a vacation place, Bain said.

“He’s always admired the properties on the East Coast because they have a lot of land,” Bain said in the story published Wednesday. “Neverland has 3,000 acres – he likes privacy. You can’t find as many properties like that on the West Coast.”

Jackson came east with his children about 10 days ago for meetings because “the majority of his advisers and attorneys are on the East Coast,” Bain said.

Paul Newman donates $5,000 to high school drama club

Ypsilanti, Mich. – Ypsilanti High School drama teacher Michelle Peet checked her mailbox Monday and discovered the color of money.

Paul Newman, once a budding actor himself, had donated $5,000 to the school’s drama club as part of its ongoing fundraising effort.

Inside an envelope delivered from Westport, Conn., was a check that will help defray costs associated with the drama club’s upcoming trip to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Club members are scheduled to perform a 90-minute show there.

A brief note accompanied Newman’s check: “The enclosed contribution is sent with every good wish for continued success in your worthy endeavors.”

“I’m so excited,” Peet told The Ann Arbor News for a Tuesday story.
