Scottish Fest offers music, kilts and haggis

Anyone with a hunger for haggis might want to consider attending the 11th annual Lawrence Scottish Fest this weekend.

The festival, organized by the Lawrence Scots group, is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H., with a concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The festival will include music from Pipers of the Plains, a Topeka-based bagpipe band, plus a Scottish Clan booth, a raffle for Celtic jewelry and traditional Scottish treats.

The concert features Robert Burns poetry, performances by the bands Uncle Dirtytoes and Forest Green, plus more bagpipe music and haggis – a traditional dish made with sheep innards – at intermission.

Anyone wearing a kilt can get into the concert free.

Advance tickets cost $10 and are available at www.LawrenceScots.org or Mass Street Music, 1347 Mass. Tickets at the door cost $12.
