Lawrence girls sweep

? The Lawrence High girls bowling team rolled to a first-place finish against two Olathe teams.

The Lions totaled 2,199 pins in defeating Olathe South and Olathe East on Thursday at Olathe Lanes East.

Tiffany Demaline was the only Lion to break 200 in any game, but she did so in all three, totaling 696 pins.

“Tiffany had an outstanding day,” LHS coach Greg Farley said. “She is determined to show that winning the state title as a sophomore was not a fluke.”

Malory Hughes-Pfeifer and Sam Hays each toppled 495 pins and had “career-best days,” Farley said.

The boys didn’t match the success of the girls, finishing third with 1,935 pins. Two freshman – Tanner Kilmer and Ben Wyatt – led the Lions with 647 and 620 pins, respectively.

“They showed no nervousness today,” Farley said. “Both performed up to their abilities.”
