To the editor:

Lawrence is indebted to Mike Rundle for 12 years of principled leadership – the hallmark of which has been a consistent dedication to preserving those qualities that continue to make this a unique place to live. Given the unending onslaught of special interests, intent on snatching as many subsidized dollars from the taxpaying public as possible, his service is that much more remarkable.

Unfortunately the reward for this exemplary stewardship has been increasingly shrill and despicable personal attacks by those brave souls too cowardly to put their names where their pens are.

Lawrence will remain a wonderful place to call home only so long as we are able to persuade outstanding leaders of Mike’s ilk to stand for public office notwithstanding the treachery of the faceless character assassins.

The next time you have a chance, say thanks to Mike for a job well done.
