From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan 16, 1907: “The Big Five Conference has met in Kansas City and it appears the rules adopted there will affect Kansas University athletes. However, freshmen are not allowed to compete as they are at other schools and that could mean the loss of many good young men from KU, who will go where they can compete immediately. : A graduate of Kansas University has been elected U.S. senator from Idaho. He is William E. Borah who will take office before he is 42 years old.”
