Party helps kick off Girl Scouts’ cookie season

If your sweets pantry is bare following the holidays, fear not – local Girl Scouts will start taking cookie orders Jan. 12.

In preparation, a Girl Scout Cookie Kick-Off Party will be from 7 to 9 tonight in Building 21 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 21st and Harper streets.

More than 400 Douglas County members of the Girl Scouts of Kaw Valley Council are expected to attend, according to Jeannie McClure, of the council.

The informational party will teach scouts about this year’s sale, which includes a new cookie called Lemonades.

For more information, contact McClure by phone at 842-8966 or by e-mail at dccookies@sbcglobal.net.
