Bartlett & West gets ground water award

Bartlett & West Engineers, which has an office in Lawrence, is a recipient of the 2006 Ground Water Supply Award, given by the National Ground Water Association in recognition of the company’s work on the South Central Regional Water District Missouri River Angle Well Project for the north Burleigh County service area of North Dakota.

By using angle drilling technology, Bartlett & West was able to install a well directly under the riverbed of the Missouri River.

The project gained national attention when it was featured in the journal Engineering News Record.

Bartlett & West Engineers determined that vertical wells would not provide the yield needed, or at least not without using multiple wells. By using angled drilling, the project was able to boost capacity for the 3,600-customer district by 2,400 gallons per minute.

Bartlett & West Engineers is an employee-owned, full-service professional engineering firm serving clients from nine offices in five states.
