“Oh no, we are all going to die. Y2K, Y2K, Y2K!!!! ”
Actually, the Y2K problem could have been quite disastrous. Fortunately, the alarm was sounded, and heeded, so that literally $billions were spent making sure software systems were updated in order to avoid that problem.
Let's hope that the same happens with a potentially much more disastrous problem, global warming, before it's too late.
As far as the daylight savings time problem, if you have a mac using OSX, a software update for that problem is available. (not sure about previous mac OS's) Either go to the Apple website and download it, or run the automatic software update program.

This is just the new “holy s*&#, we're all going to die!” story that starts out as decent informational news and then snowballs into an overhyped story.

There's no problem if you just stay on standard time, like I do, and pay no attention to daylight time at all. Although I have to set the computer clock back and am late to events sometimes. Oh well. I don't believe in daylight time. God runs the universe on standard time.

The trap-door buffalo COULD have prevented the movement of settlers into the West.

I assume you're just being humorous, TOB, but in order not to underestimate how dense many posters on this forum are, I'll explain.
The potential problems with Y2K were very real; the “trap-door buffalo” was not.

Well, I had let out by Trap Door Buffalo so he could do his business and now that I'm back I'll ask aboaut simply resetting the clock on the box.
What up with that?
I don't see any big problem.
Little button down on the lower right of the screen.
Thanks.
Marion.

There is NO proof that this earlier “Spring Forward” DST will save us energy or the cost of energy down the road, just as there is NO ample proof to back up Big Al's claim that global warming is hitting earth with a vengeance. HELLO, if global warming is a serious threat, then how come we had ICE & SNOW here in the midwest this winter? This claim of Gore's is about as full of baloney as those in Congress who ram-rodded this legislation through that required DST three weeks earlier than normal. give me a break!

The change in DST beginning and ending should have been left alone the way it was. The exact changeover from CST to DST will not change much in the way of electricity consumption. Also, the amount of daylight will not change, we just continue to manipulate the daylight.
