Jayhawks will travel to Louisville tourney

Kansas University’s softball team will continue its 18-game road swing this weekend at a tournament in Louisville, Ky.

The Jayhawks (5-3-1) will face three teams that advanced to the NCAA Regionals last spring: Kent State, Iowa and host Louisville.

KU will tangle with Kent State (1 p.m.) and Louisville (3 p.m.) today and will meet Iowa at noon Saturday.

Sophomore catcher Elle Pottorf and freshman first baseman-outfielder Amanda Jobe are leading the Jayhawks in hitting with identical .421 averages.

Senior pitcher Kassie Humphreys also is off to a fast start with a 4-0 record, a 1.52 earned-run average and 32 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. She is holding foes to a .162 batting average.

KU will wrap up its road swing next weekend at a tournament in Tulsa, Okla.
