College Station, Texas ? The Kansas University swimming and diving team shattered the school record in the 200-yard medley relay on the opening day of competition at the Big 12 Conference championships.

The quartet of senior Jenny Short, sophomore Danielle Herrmann, junior Lauren Bonfe and sophomore Maria Mayrovich finished in 1 minute, 41.01 seconds, breaking the previous KU mark of 1:42.02. They finished third in the event behind Texas and Texas A&M.

KU is currently fourth in team points with 60.

On Tuesday, 16 Kansas University swimmers and divers were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team announced by the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday.
