Anyone who wants to learn more about this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Douglas County can attend the kickoff rally from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Free State High School commons area.

The Relay for Life will be June 8 at the Free State track. It is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp, barbecue, dance and walk around the track to raise funds to fight cancer. During a relay ceremony, participants light hundreds of luminarias around the track to honor cancer survivors and anyone who was victim to the disease.

The public is invited to Thursday’s kickoff rally to learn about how to organize a team and raise money.

This year, the relay will include participants from all of Douglas County.
