The Police give tour green light

West Hollywood, Calif. – Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have to be the happiest police on the planet.

Sting has finally caved in and agreed to a Police reunion tour, 23 years after the soft-rock group broke up because of artistic differences.

The trio announced their first tour in decades Monday at a rehearsal at the Whisky a Go-Go on the legendary Sunset Strip.

Summers and Copeland kidded about Sting’s demanding personality.

“We refer to Sting as our dear leader,” Copeland said.

“On a good day,” Summers added.

They insisted the disputes that broke them up were artistic, not personal.

“The nature of the arguments were all about music : also hairstyles,” Sting joked.

Tickets for the North American leg will range from $50 to $225. Kansas City, Mo., is not on the tour, but Denver, St. Louis and Dallas are.

Valentine’s Day can be thorny for even President Bush

Washington – Hey guys, don’t worry about it. Even the man with his own rose garden forgets about Valentine’s Day.

In a television interview broadcast Monday, first lady Laura Bush was asked how good President Bush is about remembering the romantic holiday.

“Not very good,” she told daytime talk-show host Rachael Ray. “There’s a White House florist, so they always send up flowers and he signs the card.

“Last year, one of the gardeners at the White House – they’re National Park employees – did a heart topiary for the president to give to me,” the first lady said. “But, of course, the president didn’t think of it. The gardener did.”

Knee operation to keep Dench away from Oscars

Berlin – Judi Dench won’t be at the Academy Awards ceremony; instead, she will be watching from bed.

“I can’t go to the Oscars because I’m going to have a knee operation,” said Dench, who’s a best-actress nominee for her performance in “Notes On A Scandal.”

She presented the movie Monday at the Berlin Film Festival.

“Don’t put money on me, because you’ll lose it,” Dench joked when asked about her chances on Oscar night Feb. 25.

She’s up against Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren.
