A handful of Kansas University track and field athletes bested NCAA provisional marks this weekend in events scattered throughout the country.

At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., pole vaulter Kate Sultanova cleared the bar at a career-best 14 feet, 1â4 inch, while Crystal Manning improved her triple jump mark to a career-best 43-201â4. That meet also saw Zlata Tarasova break her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 62-11â4.

At the ISU Classic in Ames, Iowa, Julius Jiles ran a season-best 8.01 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, and Melissa O’Rourke narrowly missed a provisional mark in the women’s mile with a time of 4:48.72.

Up next for KU is the Big 12 Championships on Feb. 23-24 in Ames.
