WETMORE ? Poor shooting in the second and third quarters doomed the Seabury Academy boys basketball team in a 44-38 loss Tuesday against Wetmore.

“We had two points in the second quarter and seven points in the third quarter,” Seabury coach Matthew Downing Jr. said, “and that’s not going to cut it.”

Scott King scored 12 points, and Max Cannon added 10 for the Seahawks, who shot just 10 of 19 from the free-throw line.

“We shot 13 free throws in the fourth quarter, and we missed five, and we missed a few front ends of one-and-ones,” Downing said.

Seabury fell to 3-11 and will play host to Elwood on Friday.

Wetmore 55, Seabury girls 21

Wetmore – The Seabury girls scored 21 points for the second straight game and came up short again.

“We just didn’t show up tonight,” Seabury coach Nick Taylor said. “That’s two nights in a row.”

Seabury fell at home to Burlingame, 36-21, on Monday.

Molly Thurman’s six points led the Seahawks, who didn’t score more than seven in any quarter Tuesday.

“We’re just in a funk right now,” Taylor said. “We need to somehow pull out of it before regionals.”

The Seahawks dropped to 6-8 and will play host to Elwood on Friday.
