Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion will serve a chili feast today.

The Legion Auxiliary will serve chili and homemade soup from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the post, 3408 W. Sixth St.

Margaret Middleton of the Legion Auxiliary said the suggested donation was $5 per meal, with all proceeds going to support the auxiliary’s activities.

The money will help the auxiliary purchase gifts for injured veterans to give to their family members, provide USO troop support and to help pay for recreation opportunities at Veterans Affairs hospitals in Kansas City, Mo., and Leavenworth.

“This is the first of what we hope is a yearly event. Hopefully it will be successful,” Middleton said.
