Postal worker remains in serious condition

A Lawrence postal worker who was struck by a truck Thursday remained in serious but stable condition Monday at a Kansas City-area hospital.

Jerry Totten, 56, was taken by air ambulance to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., Thursday morning after being struck by a truck while crossing Seventh Street on the east side of New Hampshire Street. Totten was on his mail route when he was hit.

Lawrence police were nearing completion of an accident report Monday and expected to give the report to the district attorney’s office today for possible charges.

The truck was driven by Gale T. Willey, 56, Lawrence.
