Nebraska ? Nebraska’s oldest resident has died at age 110, hours after learning that her 85-year-old daughter died across the hall.

Julia Tharnish died Thursday at the Creighton Care Center. Her family says she had 14 children and helped her husband on the farm.

Tharnish was born on a farm near Creighton and married her husband in 1915. They were farmers near Creighton until 1954, when they moved to town to sell supplies to farmers.

Her granddaughter Monica Eby of Omaha says she played piano in the nursing home’s lobby.

The oldest living Nebraskan is now 109-year-old Abeline Spiehs of Grand Island.
