Central Junior High to perform free show

Area residents can see a free production of “Beauty and the Beast” this week.

Actors in the city’s Special Populations Division’s award-winning Acting 101 class will perform the show at 7 p.m. Monday at Central Junior High School, 1400 Mass. The division is under the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.

The class has rehearsed once a week for more than two months, and earlier productions include “The Lion King,” “Footloose” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

Angela Harris and Sally Trujillo teach the class, and Gail Gauthier and Kent Nelson, of the Strive Group’s Rock Island Display Division, provided the costumes.
