Fundraiser for Lawrence resident slated for today

The public is invited to a Benefit Concert for Heidi Karn Barker at 7 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of McLouth. Karn Barker, a Lawrence resident and McLouth High School graduate, left Thursday for St. Louis, where she will have a lung transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital. She has to live within two hours of the hospital while on a transplant list. The benefit will help pay for her living costs and mounting medical expenses.

Another benefit is scheduled for Dec. 15.

The McLouth High School blues orchestra band, SpiralBound, will present a Holiday Rock Show at 7 p.m. in the MHS auditorium.

Admission to the performance is free, but donations will be taken to help cover Baker’s medical expenses.

The First Baptist Church also has started a Love Fund for Karn Barker. Anyone who would like to donate money, can make the check payable to First Baptist Church and on the memo line put Heidi Karn Barker Love Fund. For more information on donations, call the church at (913) 796-6263.
