The Douglas County Law Library’s “Reels of Justice” legal-themed film series continues with the screening of “Judgment at Nuremberg” this week.

The show will be at 5:45 p.m. Friday in the Lawrence Public Library auditorium, 707 Vt.

“Judgment at Nuremberg” stars Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Richard Widmark, Marlene Dietrich, and Maximilian Schell. In post-World War II Germany, an American judge (Tracy) must decide whether four German judges are guilty of having used their judicial powers to help the Nazis. His task becomes more complex due to his growing relationship with the widow of a Nazi officer (Dietrich). The film won two Academy Awards in 1962, including the Best Actor Award for Maximilian Schell.

Because of the length of the film, the evening’s program will begin 15 minutes earlier than usual and will not include attorney commentary on the film.

The Law Library is sponsoring the Reels of Justice Film Series as a public service in its education and outreach program to promote a better understanding of the legal system in the community at large. The program is free and open to the public.
