Hawk Week on the Hill

Below is a schedule of Hawk Week events designed to acclimate incoming students to Kansas University and to kick off the new school year.

Sunday

Unionfest, 8 p.m. to midnight, Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd. Live music, giveaways, free food and games.

Monday

Ice Cream Social, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Adams Alumni Center, 1266 Oread Ave.

Traditions Night, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., Memorial Stadium

Rock-A-Hawk, 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., Visitor Center Parking Lot. Music, dancing, games and free food on Daisy Hill.

Tuesday

Beach ‘N’ Boulevard, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Wescoe Beach. Party featuring sand volleyball, pepper-eating contest, badminton, snow cones, cotton candy, giveaways and live music.

Info Fair about student groups, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Strong Hall lawn.

Hawk Link Block Party, 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Wescoe Beach. Dancing, free food and soda.

Wednesday

Take Over the Beach, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wescoe Beach, 1445 Jayhawk Blvd. Music, performances from several student organizations, prizes.

Thursday

Downtown Hawks, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., downtown Lawrence. Student discount at several businesses with a KUID.

Rec Fest, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., KU Student Recreation Fitness Center, 1740 Watkins Center Drive.

Friday

Free Outdoor Concert: Trout Fishing in America, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Lied Center Lawn, 1600 Stewart Drive.

Family Art Festival, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Lied Center Garden Courtyard, 1600 Stewart Drive.

Movie on the Hill, “Mission: Impossible III,” 9 p.m., Campanile hill (rain location: Woodruff Auditorium, Kansas Union).

Saturday

Community Service Project, 10 a.m. Kansas Union Lobby, Fourth Floor. Volunteers will be bussed to community organizations to spend the day on service projects and learning about volunteer opportunities at KU. Lunch will be served.
