Light saver
To the editor:
I visited a local department store recently and was somewhat surprised to see that about one-third of the overhead lights were turned off. The store was noticeably darker, but there seemed to be plenty of light for shopping.
I commented to a clerk that dimming the lights was a good idea, and she replied that the store was much cooler. Sounds like a win-win-win decision. Employees are more comfortable, the business has lower utility costs, and our community reduces its contribution to global warming by a smidgen.
I hope other businesses – and households – will consider turning down the lights.
