FSHS tennis ties for title
Gardner ? The Free State High boys tennis team dominated doubles play Saturday at the Blazer Invitational, winning titles in both the No. 1 and No. 2 flights to tie for the overall team title.
The Firebirds’ Michael Swank and Jack Hull teamed to go undefeated at No. 1 doubles, beating Olathe Northwest’s Evan Hoisington and Alex Graves, 8-4, in the championship match.
Free State’s Patrick Spurgeon and Blaine Kaehr matched that feat at No. 2 doubles, beating Olathe Northwest’s Paco Zimmerman and Ross Carr, 8-6, in the title match.
Free State and Olathe Northwest each finished with 24 team points to share the championship.
Lawrence High (4) finished in a four-way tie for fifth place.
