Two faculty members of Bishop Seabury Academy recently were named to be readers for Advanced Placement Exams by the College Board. A third faculty member also returns as a reader.

Matt Patterson, the school’s academic dean/director of college counseling and an English teacher, will serve as a reader for the Advanced Placement Examination in English Language and Composition.

Amy Meyers, chair of the school’s Foreign Language Department and a Latin teacher, will serve as a reader for either the AP Latin (Poetry) Exam or the AP Latin (Vergil) Exam.

Patterson and Meyers will join college professors and high school instructors from across the country for one week this summer to read and score the exams, which are used by colleges and universities to award college credit or advanced standing.

Returning for a second year as a reader is Sara Adkins, the school’s director of international students and a social studies instructor, who will work on the AP European History Exam. Adkins also has been accepted to participate in the Truman Presidential Museum and Library’s summer teacher conference, The War to End All Wars: World War I and Its Aftermath.

The conference will allow attendees to work with World War I scholars and gain access to primary source documents.
