U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore (D.-Kan.) invites high school artists in the Third District to participate in the 2007 Congressional Art Competition, which gives students the opportunity to see their artwork displayed in the tunnel leading to the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C. One winner will be picked from each of the nation’s 435 congressional districts.

“I am always impressed by the work of our talented young artists as I walk through the Capitol tunnel each day,” Moore said. “The Third District has a history of sending great pieces to Washington through this competition and I am excited to see this year’s entries.”

In addition to the honor of having his hor her work hanging in the U.S. Capitol for one year, the winner of the competition from the Third District will receive transportation for three to Washington, D.C., for the reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 28.

In order to fit in the designated space, all entries must be two-dimensional, framed and no larger than 30 inches by 30 inches on the outside of the frame and 4 inches in depth. Examples of acceptable artwork include paintings, drawings, two-dimensional collages, prints, computer-generated art and photography. Each entry must be original in design and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws.

Entries should be digitally photographed and sent attached to an e-mail in JPEG, TIFF or PDF file format to moore.art@mail.house.gov. Only PC-compatible entries will be accepted. All entries must be received via e-mail by 5 p.m. Friday.
