Police, man stand off at apartment complex

? Police on Saturday surrounded a Tulsa apartment complex where a man they suspect killed a teenager refused to come out.

Police negotiated with the murder suspect for several hours, the Tulsa World newspaper reported on its Web site. Earlier, a crowd of about 200 people gathered nearby and caused problems for officers, who called in reinforcements to help disperse the crowd.

Some of the additional police wore riot gear and carried batons.

Officer Scott Walton could not confirm reports of some in the crowd throwing rocks or firing shots, but Dominic Armstrong, a cameraman from television station KOTV, said he was standing next to a vehicle that was hit by gunfire from the crowd.

“Early on, there was a lot of chaos, and we didn’t know what we had,” he told the newspaper.
