Austin, Texas ? A turnaround against Texas would be just the ticket for Kansas University’s softball team.

The Jayhawks, who dropped four of five games during their last homestand, will meet the Longhorns in single games today and Saturday.

Starting time for both contests will be 1 p.m. at McCombs Field.

Kansas has been solid on the road this season – the Jayhawks have won eight of their last nine outside Lawrence – but the Longhorns boast one of the most raucous home atmospheres in the league.

“Texas is a tough place to play,” KU coach Tracy Bunge said. “But you never have a day in the Big 12 where you feel you can breathe.”

Texas and Kansas share the same Big 12 Conference records at 2-3, but the ‘Horns (27-9 overall) are ranked No. 11 and No. 13 in this week’s collegiate softball polls.

KU (26-13-1) was plagued by defensive lapses during its disappointing homestand. At the same time, the hitting tapered off, and the pitching was inconsistent.

Kansas will travel to Missouri on Wednesday, then play host to Texas A&M next weekend.
