Local construction was not due to be delayed despite a work dispute between the Bricklayers’ Union Local No. 3 and the Associated General Contractors. Officials said work would progress while negotiations were under way.

Local planners for a federally financed program for both disturbed and gifted school children were given the final go-ahead in Washington. The grant to finance the program amounted to $161,000 and E.J. Logsdon was to be the coordinator of the local project.
