KU welcomes notable painter to campus

Painter Johanna Jackson will come to Kansas University this month as part of the art department’s 2006-2007 Visiting Artist Series.

Jackson is a painter who also works with video, animations and sculptural installations. Her work was included in the critically acclaimed exhibition “Beautiful Losers” that toured the USA and abroad in past years.

Jackson has exhibited at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the Luggage Store (Gallery) in San Francisco and recently at the Eclipse Gallery in Switzerland. She is represented by the Jack Hanely Gallery in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

While at KU, Jackson will work with graduate students in the art department and create an original lithograph in the printmaking division. She also will give a lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Spencer Museum of Art. The lecture is free and open to the public.
