Rams

St. Louis Rams defensive end Anthony Hargrove, who skipped two days of practice and meetings last week while dealing with personal issues, Monday was reinstated to the team.

Coach Scott Linehan said Hargrove, a third-year player, was hit with a “pretty substantial fine” and would have to earn his way back up the depth chart. Rookie Victor Adejanyu started Sunday at Arizona and will get another start this week against the Lions.

Vikings

Coach Brad Childress hinted Monday that cornerback Fred Smoot did not play the first series against Chicago because of disciplinary reasons. When the defense stepped on to the field for the first time Sunday, Smoot stood on the sideline with his hands on his hips while rookie Cedric Griffin started. A radio report during the game said Smoot had an issue with his helmet that kept him from being in the game, and Childress did not address it during a brief postgame news conference. But on Monday Childress said, “That’s between Fred and I. I’m not going to put it off as a helmet issue, no.”

49ers

Running back Frank Gore is expected to return this week despite leaving Sunday’s loss to Philadelphia because of a strained muscle in his abdomen. Gore, who rushed for 266 yards and three touchdowns in the 49ers’ first three games, was hurt while trying to stretch over the goal line in the third quarter. He fumbled in the process, and Mike Patterson returned it 98 yards for a score. Rookie tight end Vernon Davis also was hurt on the same play while trying to chase down Patterson.

Titans

Right guard Benji Olson, left guard Zach Piller and backup offensive lineman Eugene Amano all injured their legs and will miss practice this week. But the Titans might get back starting defensive end Antwan Odom, who hasn’t played since Aug. 19 when he hurt his right leg in an exhibition loss at Denver. Coach Jeff Fisher said all three offensive linemen had MRI exams, which showed sprains.

Colts

Scratch Ice Cube’s “Go to Church” from the Colts’ playlist. Pete Ward, the Colts’ senior executive vice president, said he decided to remove the song after confusion over the lyrics during Sunday’s 21-14 victory over Jacksonville. The song has two versions – one full of profanities and a “clean radio version,” which is what Ward said the Colts played to psych up the defense. But Ward said poor acoustics in the RCA Dome might have made listeners think they were hearing profanities instead of the sanitized version.

Bengals

Cincinnati linebacker Odell Thurman was arrested early Monday on a drunken-driving charge. Thurman, already serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, registered 0.18 percent on a blood-alcohol test – more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police said.
