Lawrence city commissioners have narrowed the field to three finalists to become the community’s next city manager.

Following an approximately 11-hour closed door executive session today, commissioners announced the following candidates will be considered to become the city’s top executive: R. Leon Churchill Jr., managing director of Reading, Pa.; David Corliss, interim city manager for Lawrence; and Dennis Taylor, city manager of Eugene, Ore.

Interviews will continue Sunday. Mayor Mike Amyx said the commission hopes to make a job offer to one of the three individuals in early October.
