From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 20, 1906: “Yesterday morning there was still a large line of students lined up at the registrar’s office and the indication is the announced enrollment of 1,218, a record, could swell. : Stella Inez Ingram, the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. Ingram, was killed instantly yesterday near Lone Star when she jumped from a buggy that was going into a ditch. The girl’s neck was broken. She was a Lawrence High graduate and a university student.”
