Legendary Union Pacific steam engine coming to Lawrence

Union Pacific Railroad’s legendary steam locomotive No. 844 is expected to pass through Lawrence about mid-day Thursday.

The train has been traveling from its home base in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Kansas City, Mo.’s Union Station for a weekend train show.

The locomotive is scheduled to stop at 10:30 a.m. at Topeka’s Overland Station Depot, 701 Kansas Ave. It will depart at 11 a.m. for Kansas City, and would pass through North Lawrence sometime before noon. It is not scheduled to stop in Lawrence.
