Affinitas to receive Foundation Award

Affinitas, which contracts with major cable companies to provide customer-service, direct-mail and other related services, will receive a Foundation Award tonight from the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.

The presentation is set for the beginning of tonight’s Lawrence City Commission meeting, which starts at 6:35 at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts.

The awards program recognizes employers achieving “substantial” job growth, said Jamie Blaylock, the chamber’s director of business retention and attraction programs.

Affinitas added 178 employees during the past year, Blaylock said, doubling the company’s staff working in the lower level of the Riverfront Plaza at Sixth and New Hampshire streets. Another 100 are expected to be hired by year’s end.

Last month, the chamber presented a Foundation Award to Environmental Management Resources Inc.
