Cool start, but heading to the 80s

Next chance for rain Saturday night

You might want some long sleeves on your way out the door – temperatures were in the 50s this morning.

However, the 80s will be back later today, according to Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“It looks like another very enjoyable afternoon,” she said.

The high will climb to 82, with winds out of the north at 3 to 8 mph and clear skies, she said. The average high temperature for this date is 90 degrees. The record high was 106 degrees, set in 1936.

At 7:55 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 53 degrees, the humidity was 96 percent and winds were out of the northwest at 6 mph.

The average low temperature for this date is 62 degrees. The record low was 48 degrees, set in 1974.

“We’ll be back into the 50s tonight,” Schack said. Temperatures will bottom out at 55 for the low by early Thursday morning, she said.

Skies will stay clear Thursday, with the high reaching 84 degrees, she said.

Friday’s morning low will be 57, with Friday’s high climbing to 84 degrees.

The next chance for rain will be Saturday evening, she said.
