Kansas City, Mo. ? Shane Costa was recalled Sunday by the Kansas City Royals and started in right field against the Chicago White Sox after batting .342 in 52 games at Triple-A Omaha.

Costa hit .267 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 52 games during two previous stints with the Royals this season.

Right-hander Luke Hochevar, on option to Single-A Burlington Iowa in the Midwest League, was promoted to Double-A Wichita in the Texas League. Hochevar, he top pick in June’s amateur draft, was 0-1 with a 1.17 earned-run average in four starts with Burlington.
