Lake Shawnee will be closed to fishing until 6 a.m. Saturday after 7,000 pounds of rainbow trout were released into the lake over the weekend.

The week-long fishing ban will allow the trout to disperse around the lake.

Fishermen will need a valid Kansas fishing license and a $4 Lake Shawnee trout permit that can be purchased at the administration office east of the dam.
