To the editor:

I’m very happy to see the Lawrence High and Free State marching bands finally getting some recognition for what they do. I’m currently a senior section leader trumpet player in the LHS marching band and it pleases me very much to see both bands being recognized for their hard work.

It brought me great happiness to look at Wednesday’s paper to see a top story on us. We really put a lot of hard work into what we do, and many times it seems to go unnoticed or overlooked outside of our organizations. To be a successful member in an organization like this takes an incredible amount of practice and dedication, and I’m very happy to see that we finally got some notice. Thank you.
