¢ Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. and Hospice Care in Douglas County seek hospice volunteers. Volunteers are carefully screened, interviewed and trained for their tasks.

Successful volunteers are caring, compassionate people who want to help families cope with the end of life of a beloved family member. Hospice volunteers help by conversing with patients and listening to tales of days gone by, preparing light meals, turning and repositioning bedfast patients, reading aloud and helping to write letters, assisting ambulatory patients to the rest room and providing companionship while the primary caregiver is away.

Interviews are required for registration. Interested volunteers, please contact Steve Satterfield at 843-3738.
