Kids invited to join KU Youth Chorus

The KU Youth Chorus is now accepting students in fourth through eighth grades to participate.

The chorus is a group of nonauditioned singers who will meet once a week for rehearsals. The purpose of the chorus is to provide a singing experience for interested children and to offer Kansas University undergraduate and graduate music education majors opportunities to work with children.

To enroll, children and parents (or a caregiver) must attend the first session at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in Murphy Hall Room 328. Tuition is $45 for the KUYC calendar year (October-May), which includes each child’s music. Tuition is due at the first session.

Participants may register by sending an e-mail to Debra Hedden, chorus director, at dhedden@ku.edu with the child’s name, age, gender, grade, parents’ names and contact information, emergency contact information and any important medical information about the student. Membership is limited to 75 participants.

Rehearsals are 4:30 p.m.-5:45 p.m. most Thursdays through May 3 at Murphy Hall. A free, informal concert is planned for May 10.
