Gas line ruptured
Repairs underway
A work crew at 7th and New Hampshire inadvertantly cut a gas service line. Traffic was shut down along New Hampshire and some businesses were evacuated. Lawrence Fire and Medical personnel went door-to-door checking buildings for gas while Aquila workers dealt with the leak.
A natural gas line near Seventh and New Hampshire Street was ruptured this morning, filling downtown Lawrence with a strong odor. Some nearby offices were briefly evacuated.
Fire and medical personnel and utility crews are on the scene working to repair the leak.
