United Way Benefit: Kansas University is sponsoring a 5K run/walk to benefit Douglas County United Way as part of Saturday’s homecoming. The race will begin at 9 a.m. at the Kansas Union. For information, go to www.homecoming.ku.edu.

Four-Way Golf Tie: Spencer Thomas, Conrad Roberts, Joe Brown and Ed Phlegar each carded a 69 to share first place in Saturday’s Jayhawk Golf Club weekly tournament at Alvamar. Skip Jackson shot 71 while Chris Anderson and Mike Stein came in with 72s. Roberts had the low gross score, a six-under-par 66.
