Freeport, Bahamas ? Bernice Mosby scored 16 points as No. 15 Baylor defeated Central Florida, 78-48, in the fourth annual Junkanoo Jam.

Angela Tisdale, Jhasmin Player and Danielle Wilson each had 10 points for the Bears. Francine Houston led the Golden Knights with 10 points.

“Not another day at the office,” Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. “Not when you’re in the Bahamas. It’s another day of work, but it’s a little bit tougher when you look around outside your hotel room how beautiful it is. … I thought we did a lot of good things.”

Baylor (5-1) jumped out to a 24-12 lead with 8:30 remaining in the first half and never seriously was challenged by the Golden Knights (1-5).

A pull-up jumper by Tisdale gave the Bears a 37-20 lead at the break. UCF missed 18 of its first 25 shots of the second half.

“We stepped up our defense a lot (today),” Mosby said. “That’s one thing we always focus on.”

Baylor’s lead only grew in the second half as its depth was too much for the Golden Knights, whose only victory came Nov. 18 against Albany.

“I don’t know that I focused on what Central Florida did,” Mulkey said. “We’re so young, my focus is what have we done to that point and what can we do better. We played a lot of different combinations.”

The Bears are 32-3 in their past 35 games during November.

“We’re just having fun right now,” Mosby said.

No. 12 Texas A&M 55, West Virginia 52

Los Angeles – Morenike Atunrase scored 18 points to help Texas A&M rally past West Virginia in the first round of the LMU Ayres Hotel Thanksgiving Classic.

The Aggies trailed 28-22 at halftime, but a basket and free throw by A’Quonesia Franklin at 13:12 of the second half gave Texas A&M (4-0) a 35-34 lead.

Franklin finished with 16 points.

Olayinka Sanni led West Virginia (2-3) with 21 points and added 10 rebounds. Chakhia Cole had nine points and 11 boards.

Wisconsin 56, Kansas State 53

Las Vegas – Jolene Anderson scored 12 points, and Wisconsin overcame a slow start to beat Kansas State in the UNLV Lady Rebel Shootout on Friday.

Mariah Dunham added 11 points for the Badgers (5-0), who shot 29 percent from the field, 1-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc and committed 17 turnovers in the win.

Kimberly Dietz had 14 points and Marlies Gipson 12 for Kansas State (3-1), which opened the game on an 11-2 run but was plagued by sloppy execution. The Wildcats committed 27 turnovers against only six assists. Fifteen came in the first half, as Kansas State shot 47 percent from the field but still trailed 30-27 at the break.

Nebraska 80, UC Irvine 66

Irvine, Calif. – Kelsey Griffin scored 22 points and her third consecutive double-double for Nebraska (4-1). Teammate Kiera Hardy scored 23 points, including five three-pointers. It was the 30th time she posted 20 points or more in a game in her career.
