Law Enforcement Report

¢ A 28-year-old Topeka man was arrested for aggravated battery and criminal trespassing Saturday night after he went to try to reclaim his towed car at Bulldog Tow, 1881 E. 1450 Road. His car had been towed while he was watching the Kansas University-Kansas State University football game, said Lt. Doug Woods of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The man gained access to the towing lot without permission, then bumped a 61-year-old employee twice with the vehicle while trying to leave, according to a report.

¢ Police responded to a burglary alarm about 5:40 a.m. Saturday at Mass Beverage, 3131 Nieder Road, and found an exterior window pane shattered. The interior window remained intact.

At least six other burglaries or attempted burglaries have been reported since late August at Lawrence liquor stores, most of them in the early-morning hours. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

¢ A 22-year-old Topeka man was arrested early Sunday for charges including carrying a concealed weapon near a bar. Further details were not available Monday from Lawrence Police.

¢ Police cited three Lawrence men – two age 22 and one age 19 – for battery about 12:40 a.m. Saturday after a fight between employees and two patrons at Cadillac Ranch, 2515 W. Sixth St.

Burglaries and thefts

¢ 600 block of Indiana Street: A 2006 Ford Freestar van belonging to Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., was taken from the business between 7 p.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a report. The van was valued at $21,000.

¢ 1000 block of Mississippi Street: A 28-year-old Mission woman reported $3,000 damage to the passenger side of her 2005 Land Rover in an alleyway around 11:35 a.m. Saturday.

¢ 700 block of North Fourth Street: An unidentified person smashed a double-pane window at Church of God Holiness, 724 N. Fourth St., between 10 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, causing $240 in damage.
